About Us

MOstly Bakes

Hello, and welcome to MOstly Bakes! My name is Maria Gutierrez-Ostrander and my family and I proudly hail from Michigan, just north of Lansing. MOstly Bakes is a play on words – a combination of who I am and what I do. I enjoy all things cooking and entertaining, but if you ask me what I love most, I’ll tell you β€œbaking” every time – hence the name MOstly Bakes!

For me, food is a way to express my love for family and friends. It’s also how I stay connected to my heritage – by keeping old family recipes alive as they were first shared with me, while also putting my own personal spin on them. And during a cold Michigan winter, I find it’s a great way to bring a little warmth and happiness into an otherwise dreary day!

I believe dining well doesn’t have to break your budget or your spirit in the kitchen for that matter. At MOstly Bakes, you’ll find a variety of recipes to take you through a meal from start to finish. While, under β€œThe Tea” you’ll find a collection of tips, tricks and helpful information.

Making it official.

At the onset of the 2020 pandemic, I launched the Mostly Bakes website as a form of catharsis. At that time, it was a passion project and hobby, really. I had a desire and some very cotton candy thoughts on how to grow this into something more, but no clear “why?” to guide me. In 2021, I decided to take the plunge and incorporate. At its core, Cocoa Nibs Creative, LLC (DBA Mostly Bakes) is not only about growing a little something for myself. It’s firmly rooted in the desire to develop a path for others to nurture their creative passion projects from conceptual seed to full bloom. Like an onion, there are a lot of layers to my decision to start a business, but this 100% minority-owned/woman-owned company is open and I want to work with you.

So, shall we work together?

Are you interested in collaborating on recipe development, social media promotion or product reviews? I enjoy working with brands whose style, products, passions and purpose align with my own. What you see on the MOstlyBakes blog and social platforms represents my personal style and the quality of my work. I am always open to new opportunities and have a soft spot for start-ups and anything with a Michigan connection. Being a proud Michigander myself, I love sharing all we have to offer in the mitten state.

If you think your brand and my style would be a good fit, I would love to hear from you. Please feel free to contact me directly here.
