From hive to harvest, I love that this 5th generation, woman-owned company follows ethical beekeeping practices that protect bee populations and maintain the delicate balance of New Zealand’s native flora. Their honey is traceable from the source, tested for purity, and certified for its natural MGO (methlyglyoxal) content, ensuring you receive genuine premium-grade, organic Manuka honey.

Each glass jar of Land Girl Organics Manuka Honey reflects a commitment to quality, authenticity, and environmental stewardship. Why the emphasis on the glass jar, you ask? Let me explain. Whenever I’m buying or working with honey, I always reach for glass jars over plastic. Beyond the charm of a glistening jar catching the morning light, there’s a practical reason, too – glass preserves the integrity of the honey. Because glass is non-reactive, it keeps honey’s natural flavor pure and unaltered, without the risk of absorbing any off-notes or chemicals from its container.

From a sustainability standpoint, glass feels like the right choice, and I love that this company makes a mindful decision to only use glass jars for bottling their honey.

Thanks to Land Girl Organics for providing the Manuka honey featured in this post and recipe.

What Makes Manuka Honey So Unique?

Just as Tupelo honey goes through a stringent testing and certification process to guarantee its authenticity and purity, Manuka honey undergoes a similar process to certify purity, quality, and origin.

Manuka honey comes exclusively from the nectar of the Manuka bush (Leptospermum scoparium), a native New Zealand plant known for its natural healing properties. What sets this golden superfood apart is its high concentration of methylglyoxal (MG)) – a naturally occurring compound that gives this honey its remarkable antibacterial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory benefits.

Because of its unique composition, Manuka honey is celebrated worldwide as a natural wellness booster. It is often used to support immune health, soothe sore throats, aid digestion, and promote skin healing. Its rich, earthy flavor (I even detect citrus notes similar to orange peel) also makes it a perfect addition to smoothies, baked goods, and energy snacks for an extra touch of sweetness with functional health benefits.

Bee Stewardship and Why This Collaboration Resonates With Me

All dressed up and ready to go!

If you’ve browsed my blog before – especially my post “3 Best Tops for Buying Local Honey“, you know I’m deeply passionate about bees and beekeeping. And although I don’t tend hives anymore, I still enjoy doing my small part to support pollinators.

Over the years, I’ve talked about how I got started in apiculture (yes, I wore a full bee suit, boots and all), how much I love observing hive behavior, and how I’ve learned the importance of raw, minimally processed honey.

So when Land Girl Organics approached me for this collaboration, it felt like a natural fit. Working with a brand that honors bee welfare, practices traceable sourcing, and values ecological balance aligns perfectly with what I aim to practice. It’s not just about a pretty label or a buzzword – it’s about real commitment to the bees, to the land, and to delivering honest, high-quality honey.

In this collaboration, I see more than a recipe feature – it’s an extension of my own values: promoting sustainable beekeeping, supporting pollinator health, and sharing the kind of honey I would be proud to pour over my morning oats (or roll into energy balls). I’m excited to bring you this recipe, knowing that each bite connects back to bee stewardship, ethical honey practices, and a genuine passion for nature.
