Easy Yummy Edible finger paint for little artists is a fun, tasty and creative activity for kids. I don’t remember a time when my daughter wasn’t in the kitchen with me. When she was in her high chair, I’d slip her something new to try and watch her face as she experienced foods for the first time.  Some things she’d gobble up right away.  Others were slyly slipped or outright chucked to our dog Tessy, who was usually more than happy to help clean up whatever fell on the floor.

The time she spent in the kitchen was more than just a way to introduce her to new foods. Cooking together became a way to learn.  We learned colors. We learned the difference between sweet, sour, salty, bitter and savory. Baking was her first lesson in fractions (1/4 cup goes into a 1 cup measure four times and so on). She got to experiment in the kitchen. I can’t tell you how many rolls of banana sushi she and her daddy made together. Yes, it was exactly how it sounds – bananas wrapped in seasoned sushi rice and nori — and they were all “delicious”! Parents, raise your hands. You know exactly what I’m talking about.

Our kitchen was a place for her to learn, to experiment with flavors and to develop her inner artist.

Like all little ones, she could grow antsy with being stuck in a highchair for an extended period of time. I was a working mom trying to get everyone, including the dog and cats fed in short order at the exact same moment. There were many days I bought myself an extra 15 minutes by sitting her in her booster chair and asking her to paint me a picture using Easy Yummy Edible Finger Paint for Litter Artists as her medium.  I’d divide up a few spoonfuls of the custard, add some food coloring and that would serve as her artist’s palate.

At the time, we had a 5′ x 7′ kitchen table with a white tile top that ran across the entire surface. It was the easiest thing in the world to clean. I’d commission her to paint a masterpiece as big as she wanted using Easy Yummy Edible Finger Paint. She’d chatter away while painting and I’d take a break from whatever I was doing in the kitchen to admire her work. Clean up was always fun, because we would just run our fingers through the “painting” and eat up a tree or a bird in the sky before washing down the table completely.

I like to think those early years were a sort of foodie gateway for her. Today, our daughter has moved beyond creating with Easy Yummy Edible Finger Paint and remains pretty adventurous with food.  She enjoys shopping at the market and trying new things. Being the proud mom that I am, I always thought her early drawings were exceptional, but she has grown into an amazingly talented artist – whether it’s an oil painting or a 3-D printing model of a drawing she has rendered.  She recently graduated from Kendall College of Art & Design in Grand Rapids, MI and is growing her career as an artist.  We couldn’t be more proud.

Recipe for Classic Vanilla Pastry Cream – aka Easy Yummy Edible Finger Paint.

Encourage children to think creatively in the kitchen. Easy Yummy Edible Finger Paint for Little Artists is just one way to get then to play creatively.  If you’re looking for something fun to do with your kids, you don’t need a big, white tile table to finger paint. An outdoor, glass-top patio table can always be hosed down afterwards.  So can the kids for that matter. A cookie sheet can serve as both canvas and picture frame for a budding artist’s creation. Bake a giant sugar cookie and have them decorate it with frosting. It doesn’t matter. Just let them play with their food.
